چکیده

The CKM collaboration is proposing to measure the branching ratio of the rare K decay K + → π + ν ¯ ν at the Main Injector at Fermilab. Our goal is to be able to observe ≃ 100 events, for a Standard Model branching ratio of ≃ 1. 10 −10. This implies that we must be able to reduce the background to a few events at a reasonable cost.

Kaon Radiative Decay K± → μνγ at CKM at the Fermilab Main Injector

High statistics data for the K → μνγ decay can allow the precision determination of the kaon structure dependent form factors. This study is possible at the proposed FNAL CKM experiment. CKM (Charged Kaons at the Main injector) is a decay-in-flight spectrometer with two Ring Imaging detectors(RICH), and designed to run at the main injector with a high kaon flux. The radiative decay data might b...

Main Injector Particle Production Experiment (MIPP) at Fermilab

The Main Injector Particle Production Experiment at Fermilab uses particle beams of charged pions, kaons, proton and anti-proton with beam momenta of 5 to 90 GeV/c and thin targets spanning the periodic table from (liquid) hydrogen to uranium to measure particle production cross sections in a full acceptance spectrometer with charged particle identification for particles from 0.1 to 120 GeV/c u...

An Expression of Interest to Detect and Measure the Direct CP Violating Decay K L → π 0 νν and Other Rare Decays at Fermilab Using the Main Injector September 22 , 1997 The KAMI Collaboration

We, the KAMI (Kaons At the Main Injector) collaboration, express our interest to continue the experimental program of rare kaon decay physics at Fermilab using the Main Injector. The 120 GeV Main Injector beam will provide neutral kaon beams which are two orders of magnitude more intense than those currently available at Fermilab. This dramatic increase in flux will allow us to study direct CP ...

Selective Resonant Extraction from the Fermilab Main Injector Using Electron Lens

We propose to use an electron lens for slow extraction of proton bunches from the Fermilab Main Injector. Negatively charged electron beam colliding with protons causes positive tune shift proportional to the electron current. If the resulting tune satisfies resonance condition, protons move to larger betatron amplitudes as in conventional slow extraction systems. Time variation of the electron...

Design and Measurements of a Deflecting Mode Cavity for an RF Separator

The Fermilab Main Injector can produce intense 120 GeV/c proton beams for fixed target experimentation. Two deflecting mode RF systems can be used to separate charged kaons from a momentum selected secondary beam, consisting of pions, kaons and protons, using a time of flight method. We present the RF design of a 3.9 GHz superconducting cavity which operates in the deflecting (TM110) pi-mode an...
